Research

Over the past ten years the RMRC has sponsored 39 research projects in 14 states. The overarching goal of these research projects has been to develop tangible research products that are useful to our clients, namely FHWA, State DOTs, the US EPA and the State Environmental Agencies. In order to continue providing research products that are responsive to the needs of our clients, the Center is currently working with its Board of Advisors and FHWA to determine the direction of future research. Future research will broadly focus on four themes (Asphalt and Concrete, Structural Fill and Unbound Materials, Environmental Issues, and Recycling Markets) that address each of the key areas where barriers exist and technological development is necessary. The Center, working with FHWA, has released a solicitation for a pooled fund study. Funds from the study will be used to sponsor research related to these themes.
