ReMA Celebrates Earth Day 2025 By Highlighting Industry’s Environmentally Responsible Role in Manufacturing

On Tuesday, April 22, the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) is celebrating Earth Day 2025 by highlighting the environmentally responsible role recycled materials play in American manufacturing by providing an alternative to utilizing natural resources.

American manufacturers depend on recycled materials for 40 percent of their raw material needs, which benefits the environment by reducing the need to cut down trees for paper, mine for ore, extract fossil fuels for plastic, and deplete natural resources.

“From everyday items to our essential infrastructure, recycled materials strengthen the manufacturing supply chain that makes our economy stronger, our planet more sustainable, and our lives better,” said ReMA President Robin Wiener. “This Earth Day, it is important to remember that it’s hard to go a day—or even an hour—without using a product made in part with recycled material.”

Recycled materials supply high-quality, renewable resources for everything from essential national infrastructure, like bridges and buildings, to consumer products like laptops, beverage cans, boxes, and cars.
