ReMA Connects with Chiefs of Police at Annual Conference

This conference marked the end of ReMA LEAC member Chief Terrence Cunningham’s term as President of the IACP. Also, ReMA was one of several sponsors for the IACP Gala Foundation Awards Dinner during which the IACP Police Officer of the Year was named. The Foundation assists officers injured in the line of duty.

Although scrap prices might be down, metals theft is still a major concern for law enforcement gauging by the number of attendees stopping by the ReMA booth. ReMA provided information on the assets provided to law enforcement by members, such as STA and StopMetalsTheft.org, and the willingness of members to join forces in the fight against metals theft. Numerous attendees stated they were already users of STA and were complimentary of the system’s effectiveness.

ISRI is a member of the IACP’s Crime Prevention Committee. Because of this membership, ReMA was selected to participate in a Conference workshop hosted by Chief Jennifer Morrison of the Colchester (VT) Police Department. The workshop, titled “High Impact/Low Cost Crime Prevention Strategies” provided budget conscious law enforcement executives with low cost/no cost crime prevention tools.  As one of four panel members, ReMA provided information to approximately 75 law enforcement executives on members’ “No Cost” solutions to metals theft – ScrapTheftAlert.com and StopMetalsTheft.org.
