Sponsored by ReMA, in partnership with JASON Learning

With a goal to better educate students on the value of recycled materials, ReMA urges all its members to get involved by encouraging youth to participate. Reach out to your local schools, community centers, scouting associations, and other groups, and share the contest on your social media feeds. Serve as an industry ambassador and good neighbor and support this contest.

2025-26 Youth Recycling Contest

K-12 Students across the country are invited to participate in a national recycling video and poster contest sponsored by ReMA and JASON Learning! This year’s challenge is Battery Recycling: Hidden Risk, Uncovered Reward. For this challenge, students must research the hidden risks behind improperly recycling batteries, as well as the rewards of recycling batteries correctly. Using their research, students develop a poster or video Public Service Announcement (a call to action with an important message meant to inspire change) communicating how we can each do our part to support recycling safety by preparing recyclables for processing.

Two grand prize winners will be selected and honored at the ReMA2026 Convention in Las Vegas, NV.

Previous Winners

Fourth grader Caroline McKee and fifth grader Maria McKee from Saint Mary’s Catholic School in Spring Lake, MI, created this year’s winning poster submission. Their project represented the process of recycling electronics through three main principles of being Sustainable, Resilient, and Essential.

Eighth grader Anushka Misra from Gainesville Middle School in Gainesville, VA created this year’s winning video submission. This creative video aligned research of the three recycling principles to make a fantastic video PSA. Anushka was an Finalist in the poster category for the 2023-2024 contest as well.
