ReMA Statement on Federal Government Shutdown
(WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 3, 2025) – Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) President Robin K. Wiener today released the following statement regarding the ongoing federal government shutdown:
The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), which represents more than 1,700 member companies across the United States and around the globe, urges Congressional leaders to act swiftly and find a bipartisan solution to reopen the federal government.
The recycled materials industry is a vital driver of innovation, supply chain resilience, and job creation – generating $170 billion annually in economic impact and supporting nearly 600,000 well-paying jobs. From permitting and regulatory clarity to facility inspections, recyclers rely on stability and certainty from our national leaders and depend on government functions to sustain operations, support growth, and keep America’s manufacturing supply chains strong.
America is made with recycled materials, and a prolonged Shutdown would threaten jobs, investment, and the resiliency of the U.S. economy.
