Behind the Booth: ReMA 2025 Roundtables Sponsor Previews

From Wednesday, September 10, to Friday, September 12, traders, processors, and consumers across the U.S. and abroad will congregate in Chicago for the ReMA 2025 Roundtables. This two-and-a-half-day event features massive networking opportunities in tandem with expert market analysis and panel discussions.

Excited to explore the ReMA 2025 Roundtables but not sure where to start? No problem. ReMA News spoke with several of the event’s top sponsors for a sneak peek at what attendees can expect from their presence at Roundtables and to find out what these companies are looking forward to at the event.

Aluminz – Richard Mayenknecht, CEO

What can attendees expect from Aluminz at Roundtables?

This will probably be my twelfth time attending the ReMA Roundtables. I think attendees should expect an open and honest dialogue about the base metals market. Obviously, Aluminz will promote our strategy to recover the valuable materials in salt cake byproduct of aluminum production.

For the last 50 years, the U.S. and Mexico aluminum industry has sent these salt cakes to landfills, which not only squanders useful resources, but also introduces environmental liabilities that linger for generations.

Aluminz was created to tackle the blind spot in the recyclability of aluminum, by using advanced technology to transform what is discarded into valuable material. Since we’re located in Mt. Pleasant, Texas and on two tier 1 rail lines, we can bring metal units, especially dross, from all over the U.S. and Mexico to our facility to process.

Roundtables is a great time to catch up with longstanding colleagues in the industry to better understand the current market conditions for aluminum. The recycled aluminum industry has ebbs and flows within oversupply and quick demand eating up the surplus. Roundtables is a chance for everyone to understand where we fit into the industry and how we want to partner with other aluminum players in the industry.

Aluminz recently went through a name change. Can you tell me about that.

When Larry Harmon, Aluminz cofounder and COO, and I put together our company strategy we used the name Advanced Aluminum Products as a project name. When we formed the joint venture with 1Vision Capital, our financial partner, we decided that we would look for a name that better captured our entire vision.

We wanted a name that illustrates what the business does—the fact that Aluminz begins with an A and ends with a Z is a perfect bookend to understand that we take aluminum all the way from the beginning of secondary material to the final product.

What are you excited for about the 2025 Roundtables?

The industry is under tremendous volatility, both with aluminum and copper as tariffs come into play. Given the volatility it’s good to level set where the market is today and where the supply/demand imbalance is. Is there a sufficient upside to all of this, or are we in for intense demand destruction that the tariffs could potentially cause? I’m looking forward to the nonferrous traders, consumers, and secondary producers coming together in Chicago to have a good dialogue about the industry itself and where it may be headed.

We will be sponsoring the Bill Rancic Meet & Greet and the Day 3 Hospitality at Roundtables. Aluminz is happy to contribute back to ReMA. The U.S. aluminum industry isn’t on an island—we have a finite community where everyone pretty much knows everyone else. It’s good to give back and be an active participant with other players in the industry.
