PNW Metal Recycling Unveils Advanced Shredder in Longview, WA

On Thursday, August 14, PNW Metal Recycling, Inc. announced the launch of its new metal shredder at the company’s Longview, Washington facility.

According to the company, the shredder is equipped with advanced environmental control systems and designed to protect local air, water, and community quality while producing low-copper shred to meet growing market demand.

The installation features state-of-the-art environmental control equipment—measures that meet or exceed state and federal regulations. The new system also allows PNW to deliver cleaner, higher-quality metal products to mills and foundries.

According to Argus Media, the 6,000-horsepower shredder is equipped with advanced environmental control systems including a regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) and wet acid gas scrubber, according to a state permit filing.

PNW Metal Recycling has seven locations, including its former shredding operation in Portland as well as feeder yards in Clackamas, Gresham, and Hermiston, Oregon; and the bulk export facility in Longview and a Prosser, Washington, location.
